Materials Needed
Fabric Preparation
- 2 pieces main fabric: 16" x 14" (front and back)
- 2 pieces lining fabric: 16" x 14" (front and back)
- 2 pieces main fabric: 4" x 14" (side panels)
- 2 pieces lining fabric: 4" x 14" (side panels)
Step 1: Prepare the Handles
Fold your handle fabric in half lengthwise and press. Then fold the raw edges to the center and press again. Topstitch along both edges to secure the handle.
Step 2: Sew the Main Bag
With right sides together, sew the front panel to the side panels. Repeat for the back panel. Press seams open.
Step 3: Attach the Handles
Pin the handles to the right side of the front panel, 2" from the top edge and 3" from each side. Baste in place.
Step 4: Sew the Lining
Sew the lining pieces together the same way as the main bag, but leave a 4" opening in the bottom for turning.
Step 5: Assemble the Bag
Place the main bag inside the lining (right sides together). Sew around the top edge, leaving the lining opening free. Turn right side out through the lining opening.
Step 6: Finish the Bag
Press the top edge and topstitch around the opening. Hand stitch the lining opening closed. Press the entire bag.
